A wide range of stylish colours and textures for timeless designs
The wide variety of available textile cover materials allows designers to give hardcover books the ‘packaging’ they deserve. Over time, linen has proven its value as an exceptional binding material. For many book lovers, a beautifully bound book simply needs linen to feel attractive, strong, and valuable. Van Heek Textiles remains committed to providing designers, publishers, bookbinders, and printers with a broad and versatile selection of bookbinding cloth in contemporary colours. Book cloth, as a woven and natural material, offers unique advantages over other bindings, combining durability, strength, and a distinctive texture that enhance a book’s appeal—and help preserve its content beautifully over generations.
Qualities
A comprehensive standard collection with different qualities and many colours forms the core of our assortment. This collection is mainly available from stock or can be produced at short notice. We set the highest standard for colour fastness, constant quality, flatness and glueability. The same applies to the technical characteristics of printing, stamping and cutting ability.
Our standard delivery format is rolls, with a maximum width of 140 cm. Typical roll lengths are 50 m or 100 m, depending on the quality. For detailed dimensions (e.g. weight, thickness) of each quality, please refer to the individual product-specification pages.
DELIVERY TO CLIENT SPECIFICATION
In general, we can produce any colour per client specification, across all qualities. The minimum order quantity for custom colours is 1,500 metres.
Roll lengths are available on request and may range from 25 m up to 1,500 m. If required, we can cut narrower rolls to a minimum width of 2.5 cm. We also offer our materials in sheet form
Additionally, we are a reliable partner for fabric development, offering services such as flame-retardant treatments, and the application of WDR, thermo, hot-melt, or self-adhesive coatings
Printing on cover materials
oday, many printing techniques are compatible with textile cover materials, and combining different techniques on the same binding is also perfectly possible. Below, you will find a short overview of the most suitable techniques.
Samples, Swatch Cards and digital swatches
Upon request, we provide free swatch cards and free A3-size samples (32 × 45 cm), so you can test and evaluate our materials firsthand. We also offer digital swatches to help you create mock-ups and visualize your projects with precision. Â
